Pump & Treat
Pump & Treat systems use pumps to extract liquids from extraction wells or open excavations. The extracted liquids are separated and groundwater is treated and discharged whereas free phase liquids are collected for off-site disposal. Vertex has installed and designed numerous Pump & Treat systems for site remediation, plume containment and excavation dewatering.
Compounds treated by Pump & Treat systems include:
- BTEX and petroleum hydrocarbons
- Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
- Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs)
The keys to the successful design and installation of Pump & Treat systems is to understand the hydrogeology and geochemistry of the site and then designing the system accordingly. Vertex has several mobile Certificates of Approval that can allow for the installation and start-up of Pump & Treat systems within three weeks.
