Vapour Mitigation Systems

Overview

When developing on a site with a known contamination presence within the soil, known as brownfield sites, there are several strategies that can be taken to reduce the risk for exposure after the building is completed. Installing site contaminant specific vapour barriers (VB) is a great option for vapour mitigation that provides protection for vapour intrusion for the life of the building. Vapour barriers provide a cost effective solution to contamination problems on brownfield site development while leaving the “million-dollar problem” in the ground.

There are several strategies that can be implemented in the initial build stage to combat vapour intrusion:

  • Spray Applied Vapour Membrane
  • High Density Sheet Membrane
  • Epoxy Coatings
  • Sub-Slab Venting

Experience

Having an experienced contractor onsite for the installation of your vapour barrier is critical in ensuring an air-tight installation of your sub-slab vapour barrier. Vertex is a certified installer of EPRO vapour membrane products and have completed numerous installations across Ontario.

As part of Vertex’s services, the installation of a vapour barrier includes the completion of a quality control smoke test to ensure air tight installation. You can trust that your next vapour barrier installation and QA/QC smoke test is completed with the highest level of professionalism and quality.
