Ben Sweet Joins VEI – and We Couldn’t Be More Excited!
We’re thrilled to announce a major milestone in VEI Contracting’s journey of growth and innovation: Ben Sweet, M.Eng., EP, has joined VEI Contracting as Market Development Manager and Senior Technical Leader!
Ben Sweet, M.Eng., EP joins VEI Contracting!
With more than 12 years of experience leading complex environmental remediation and water treatment projects across Canada and the U.S., Ben brings a rare mix of technical expertise, strategic insight, and leadership acumen to VEI. Most recently, he served as Director of Environmental Technologies at QM Environmental, where he built and led a national remediation and water treatment division from scratch – scaling it to multi-million dollars in revenue in under two years. Prior to that, at SCG Industries, Ben played a pivotal role in developing and expanding new environmental service lines, leading collaborative research initiatives, and managing complex remediation and water treatment projects, establishing himself as a forward-thinking technical leader in the Canadian environmental industry.
Ben’s resume reads like a cross-country roadmap of Canada’s most challenging remediation projects. From full-scale PFAS emergency responses, to the development of innovative soil vapour extraction systems, to multi-year, multi-million-dollar brine and BTEX remediation programs, Ben has delivered results in just about every setting and under every imaginable condition – including -40°C Arctic installations.
From his base in St. John, New Brunswick, Ben will lead the charge in expanding VEI’s reach across the country – especially in Western Canada – by helping us grow our water treatment, dewatering, vapour management and site remediation service lines into new markets and client sectors.

My goal has always been to bring innovative, practical solutions to complex environmental challenges. Now, I get to do that alongside a team that shares that same mission and has the capability and culture to truly make a difference.”

Ben’s unique combination of strategic thinking, technical excellence, and leadership experience makes him an ideal addition to VEI’s senior team. As our first senior remote employee and a key architect of our expansion efforts, Ben will work closely with VEI’s divisional leaders to chart new paths, open new doors, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in environmental contracting.
