Pete Craig Joins VEI!

Earlier this year we announced significant growth in our dewatering service with the addition of Josh Douma, Mark Kassel and Chris Lesperance in VEI’s Dewatering division. The hits just keep on coming: this month, we are excited to announce that Pete Craig, M.Sc. has joined VEI Contracting as Strategy and Operations Manager!

Pete Craig joins VEI Contracting

Pete has almost 25 years of experience in environmental remediation, ground improvement and seepage management. Pete earned his B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of California Berkeley in 1996 and his M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from Stanford in 1998, subsequently building a career on thinking strategically to solve difficult geoenvironmental problems in Canada, the United States and Europe. Pete has completed dozens of projects across widely diverse industries on everything from military base closures to nuclear waste disposal, from in-kind support of university research to massive, multi-million-dollar civil earthworks programs. At VEI, Pete will be building out the support systems for VEI’s rapidly expanding reach, helping push forward the general state of environmental industry practice along the way. His experience across Canada and beyond, from the scale of lab flasks to the scale of 120 tonne excavators, helps ensure VEI’s capacity to take on your most challenging projects, regardless of location or size.

“I’ve worked with Bruce, Kevin, Nathan – all parts of the VEI team, really – sometimes as a client, sometimes as a subcontractor and often as a collaborator – for over ten years. Challenging contaminants, failures of previous (conventional) alternatives, difficult ground conditions, nightmarish logistics – I knew who to call when average and typical wouldn’t cut it. Very few companies have similar abilities to identify, engineer and implement innovative technologies as successfully at full scale. And even fewer do as good a job working with consultants and other contractors for shared benefit. I cannot express how thrilled I am to finally slot directly into the team bringing VEI’s existing and emerging geoenvironmental technologies to an even larger user base.”

As Bruce Tunnicliffe says: “Pete brings his own brand of humour and intelligence to VEI, and we very much look forward to working with the man, the legend over the next few weeks, months, and years. Here’s to a sharp mind and endless possibilities!!”
