Strict regulations and government policies are newly developing in China. In 2013, the Chinese State Council issued a “Soil Protection and Comprehensive Soil Management Circular” to call for building soil remediation demonstration pilots around major cities, key areas with heavy metal pollution control issues, and centralized drinking water sources; As a result, the Chinese government is investing billions of dollars in soil remediation projects. Brownfield remediation for commercial development has been the main driver in large cities.
